Former President Donald Trump urged Attorney General Pam Bondi to pursue criminal charges against several of his longtime political adversaries, including Representative Adam Schiff (D-CA), former FBI Director James Comey, and New York Attorney General Letitia James.
In a series of posts on his Truth Social platform on Saturday night, Trump criticized delays in bringing cases against his opponents, claiming inaction was “killing our reputation and credibility.”
“Pam: I have reviewed over 30 statements and posts saying that, essentially, ‘same old story as last time, all talk, no action. Nothing is being done. What about Comey, Adam “Shifty” Schiff, Leticia??? They’re all guilty as hell, but nothing is going to be done,’” Trump wrote. He added, “We can’t delay any longer, it’s killing our reputation and credibility. They impeached me twice, and indicted me (5 times!), OVER NOTHING. JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED, NOW!!!”
In a follow-up post, Trump praised Bondi’s leadership while also announcing plans to nominate attorney Lindsey Halligan to serve as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. The post came after Erik Siebert, the current U.S. Attorney for that district, announced plans to resign amid reported pressure from the administration to pursue a case against James.
“Pam Bondi is doing a GREAT job as Attorney General of the United States,” Trump wrote. “She is very careful, very smart, loves our Country, but needs a tough prosecutor in the Eastern District of Virginia, like my recommendation, Lindsey Halligan, to get things moving.”
Trump has repeatedly called for Schiff and Comey to face prosecution over their roles in investigations related to Russian interference in the 2016 election. Schiff led the first impeachment inquiry into Trump and has frequently clashed with him publicly. Comey, who was dismissed as FBI director in 2017, oversaw the early stages of the FBI’s Russia investigation, which Trump has long labeled a “witch hunt.”
Bondi, a former Florida attorney general and Trump ally, was recently criticized by some conservatives for her comments on regulating “hate speech” targeting slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Commentator Matt Walsh of The Daily Wire argued Bondi should be removed from her post over those remarks.
